In 1987 GV.BIKES moved to its present site in Whitehall.
Geoff Hodges, the proprietor has been in the
motorcycle trade in Taunton for 30years,the first 10years working as a
mechanic
in a local
Honda/Suzuki dealership before he set up a business
on the present site.
Antony Snell joined the business in 1988 as an apprentice rising to his present position of chief mechanic.
Jimmy Hodges has completed his aprienticeship and has now been with the business since 2006 full time
Tommy Hodges is the latest recrute to the family run business now working part time alongside his full-time college course.
All have been in volved in various forms of motorsport Antony 3 times south somerserset motocross champion.
Geoff being a familier sight at Speed hillclimb events for a number of years.
Jimmy and his brother Tommy both compete in enduro events and the National hillclimb championship,Tommy climbing up through the National ranks qualifying a couple of times in the 2010 top 10 run off. At the age of 17 he is defintly showing signs of things to come.
Jimmy has recently been crowned National Hillclimb champion! Winning the championship on the last round of the series by 1 point! Making him the youngest champion to date!
In 2010 Jimmy also competed in his 1st road race,taking part in the famous Welsh event,Aberdare Park road race,competing in the supermoto class on the Team Gv Honda CRF450 he already started with a handycap against the larger capacity bikes,holding onto 4th overall in the final missing 2nd place by a whisker ( half a bike between 2nd and 4th) he showed true maturity in his riding and out did everyones expectations. Aberdare 2011 here we come,a different bike is on the cards but its all hush at this time!
2011 looks to
be an interesting year for both the brothers
